Psalm 91. It’s great.
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91.1-2; ESV)
When I began reading this psalm, I was drawn to the imagery of the fortress. God is our fortress. He is the impenetrable, never failing fortress of our salvation. Those who believe in Him and profess Jesus as Lord will never be taken from the protection of the Lord Most High. This is what sparked the song, My Fortress.
Why should I fear? I have the Lord of all creation holding on to me! Even in the midst of my sin and rebellion, He holds me. No matter what I may face in this life, I know that my eternity is secure. My life is found in Christ and is secure in Him.
Cling to the One who won’t be shaken—our Fortress, creator of heaven and earth.
